Alex is brilliant! She has saved the day. I had written a blessing for some friends, to celebrate the birth of their... daughter, and I wanted it to be written in calligraphy so that it would look and feel particularly special. I didn't know whether it should be portrait or landscape, and had virtually no ideas myself about what would work and what wouldn't, but Alex did. Her skill and expertise made sure that my verse looked absolutely exquisite. Alex's writing is beautifully consistent, and her style of handwriting is so precise and elegant. She even created little floral decorations, and picked out key words in different colours for me. Alex is a pleasure to work with, and not only is she an expert at what she does, she is also a very likeable person, who clearly takes an interest in the nature of the commissions, which ensures that the finished product is always exactly appropriate. Alex is a delightfully gentle yet thorough teacher. She has great expertise and so can describe and explain the... technical nuances of each group of letters and how each letter within a group relates to the others. It is this level of finesse in Alex’s teaching that has enabled my copperplate to really progress and for me to finally produce decent pointed pen decorations.
Alex is very committed to enabling her students make progress and can spot what needs tweaking in a students work to bring that about.
The zoom lessons are very enjoyable and, like Alex, the other students have been friendly and approachable.
I have signed up for the copperplate Majuscule lessons and I’m no doubt I’ll be attending other courses as and when Alex offers them.read more

Excellent calligraphy courses by CalligrAbility. The teacher adapts extremely well to all abilities and the lessons are... really friendly! . The online courses are very thorough and you can do them at your own pace. The Eventbrite Zoom events are llively and you will meet fellow calligraphy enthusiasts. You will enjoy the experience.read more
